Recovery Ahead

by | May 11, 2022 | 58 comments

I had a nice chat with Lisa last night and I’m happy to pass on the good news of Bob’s procedure and status! Actually, I heard the news from Bob himself, as she played a short voice recording. In essence, Bob said;

The procedure went very well… I’m resting comfortably… This great team at Virginia Mason are taking wonderful care of me… I am in very good hands. And I’m hoping for a Sunday release.

Lisa’s describing the emotional day and the joy receiving the good news with Andrew and Keith was heartwarming. It is unfortunate they won’t get to visit with Bob going forward, as Virginia Mason reinstitutes it’s covid/no visitors policy, today.

UPDATE: May 13, 2022

Bob’s recovery progressing smoothly, feeling better and looking good!

Mmm good to the last drop!

    Sorry to hear about your diagnosis Bob. But you’re right the health care here is amazing. I’ll be praying for your recovery and for Lisa to have strength through this as well.

    Long time listener….. and syrup lover. Your show in Washington WAS my morning for so many years. And I really couldn’t say which twisted tune is my favorite.
    Nothing ever filled that spot when you left. I’ve tried to keep tabs on your doings when I could cause you’re always doing something interesting. And I bought some of your syrup – because it made me feel closer to those old happy memories. (It turned out to be a delicious decision.) This diagnosis totally sucks. My heart goes out to you and your family as you walk this journey. There is so much prayer and positive energy being sent your way, and I add mine too. You got this Bob. Step by step – just like a walk up Rattlesnake Mountain.

    Bob, you don’t know me at all. But I have been a listener forever…. At least in Seattle. Twisted Christmas songs have been a staple in our family since the kids were little. One of them even got into a tiny bit of trouble when he sang the words to a Twisted song instead of the traditional lyrics in music class one day… Jr thought those WERE the correct lyrics! Still makes me laugh.
    I am sending you all the positive energy I can. Be strong and get healthy.

    Rec’d our 1st shipment several weeks ago of that Great Maple syrup Bob & Lisa!!!! Just heard you are recovering from surgery! Get well soon! You may miss spring mushroom hunting but you should be raring and ready to go for the Fall! Landscape morels are fruiting in some areas in Seattle but the late snows have delayed the fruiting of the natural morels at higher elevations. We haven’t been out yet. I’m waiting for those late Spring porcini!!! Are you hunting mushrooms in your new home state? (NO Spike and Joe – we are talking about the culinary ones, not *those*) Keeping you in my prayers.

    Hi Bob and Lisa! Super glad the surgery went very well and your post op is going to be even better! I missed reviewing the syrup but it’s faneffingtastic! I never thought tree juice could be so tasty. Keeping you in our thoughts.

The Bob Rivers Show - Podcast

It's the first Bob Spike and Joe podcast in a long time, and the first since Joe Bryant's heart attack. Note: If you don't want to hear 3 old guys talk about their health, this may not be the show for you. On the other hand, talking about dying is a refreshing break from Politics. You won't believe what Joe ate in the 48 hours preceding his heart attack! Why the US really wants to ban Tik Tok. It ain't Chinese Spying. Bob learns how to use StubHub. Sometimes if you wait until the last minute, you can score tickets on the cheap. Springsteen aisle [...]

Special Guest, Pro Musician, Comic, and amazing personality Chace McNinch. Thank you to my inspirational and kind niece JodyLynn, who spotted Chace performing in Montana. Chace happens to be Trans. Does that make you uncomfortable? I hope you will find her gentle sarcasm and acceptance of all people to be both inspired and contagious. If you believe identity politics is a load of crap that will be easy. Her story about a memorable encounter with Steven Tyler is hilarious. Standing up to a rock star was bold! We go behind the scenes to talk about the challenges and joys of performing, pre show nerves, and [...]

Andrew Rivers is in Las Vegas for his first ever headlining gig… it goes very well. We talk about his new steady (for now) girlfriend. Lisa and I zoomed with the two of them, and there seemed to be chemistry. We talked about Global Politics a little bit. I think Andrew is a radical centrist like me. Lisa pops in and talks about how disgusting the "Roast of Tom Brady" was on Netflix Listening to the audio on Podcast Service?
