Recovery Ahead

by | May 11, 2022 | 58 comments

I had a nice chat with Lisa last night and I’m happy to pass on the good news of Bob’s procedure and status! Actually, I heard the news from Bob himself, as she played a short voice recording. In essence, Bob said;

The procedure went very well… I’m resting comfortably… This great team at Virginia Mason are taking wonderful care of me… I am in very good hands. And I’m hoping for a Sunday release.

Lisa’s describing the emotional day and the joy receiving the good news with Andrew and Keith was heartwarming. It is unfortunate they won’t get to visit with Bob going forward, as Virginia Mason reinstitutes it’s covid/no visitors policy, today.

UPDATE: May 13, 2022

Bob’s recovery progressing smoothly, feeling better and looking good!

Mmm good to the last drop!

    Sorry to hear about your diagnosis Bob. But you’re right the health care here is amazing. I’ll be praying for your recovery and for Lisa to have strength through this as well.

    Long time listener….. and syrup lover. Your show in Washington WAS my morning for so many years. And I really couldn’t say which twisted tune is my favorite.
    Nothing ever filled that spot when you left. I’ve tried to keep tabs on your doings when I could cause you’re always doing something interesting. And I bought some of your syrup – because it made me feel closer to those old happy memories. (It turned out to be a delicious decision.) This diagnosis totally sucks. My heart goes out to you and your family as you walk this journey. There is so much prayer and positive energy being sent your way, and I add mine too. You got this Bob. Step by step – just like a walk up Rattlesnake Mountain.

    Bob, you don’t know me at all. But I have been a listener forever…. At least in Seattle. Twisted Christmas songs have been a staple in our family since the kids were little. One of them even got into a tiny bit of trouble when he sang the words to a Twisted song instead of the traditional lyrics in music class one day… Jr thought those WERE the correct lyrics! Still makes me laugh.
    I am sending you all the positive energy I can. Be strong and get healthy.

    Rec’d our 1st shipment several weeks ago of that Great Maple syrup Bob & Lisa!!!! Just heard you are recovering from surgery! Get well soon! You may miss spring mushroom hunting but you should be raring and ready to go for the Fall! Landscape morels are fruiting in some areas in Seattle but the late snows have delayed the fruiting of the natural morels at higher elevations. We haven’t been out yet. I’m waiting for those late Spring porcini!!! Are you hunting mushrooms in your new home state? (NO Spike and Joe – we are talking about the culinary ones, not *those*) Keeping you in my prayers.

Bob and BJ have been best friends and Trekkies for over 20 years. BJ is still bummed that 'The Bob Rivers Show - KZOK' beat 'BJ Shea - KISW' for "Star Trek walk-on roles for the Show Host and a Listener". Because I got to be on Star Trek. And he didn’t. I can't blame him. But had it not gone that way, we wouldn’t be having this insightful Podcast with Amy Ulen. Author, Teacher and so much more - Amy was the bonafide trekky and the lucky listener who joined me for the walk-on roles. Prepare for Warp Speed! Live long and prosper 🖖 [...]
