The Big Scoop

Keep Digging. Get the Story.

If that’s not the most important mission of the press, what is? Conventional wisdom was that journalists hold our leaders accountable. They are also the curators who prioritize what is newsworthy, and what is fluff.

I’ve said since 2016 that the news media has a conflict of interest problem with Donald Trump. If the election was rigged, we should take a hard look at how it really happened. And I’m not just talking about Fox News or MSNBC or Facebook. Everybody was complicit. Yes, even before the election I felt it. This candidate presented all media a golden opportunity to increase ratings and revenue.

Does it seem correct to say that Trump generates more stories, clicks, and views per minute than any other topic in the history of communication? Media loves him the way The Weather Channel loves a devastating hurricane. It may be upsetting, but you have to watch. And we’re going to cover it around the clock.

He’s The Perfect Storm.

He’s a Media Rock Star: Everything he does is a hit. He’s The Beatles.

You notice I’m merely stating observations, without taking a side.

Why?

I just don’t buy the premise that 40% of us should think the other 40% are terrible for our country. But it appears that 80% of you are invested in that very idea.

The Facts.

Oh yeah, of course, he, reimbursed Michael Cohen for Stormy Daniels. What’s the big deal? He denied it, so what? Not under oath he didn’t. When a dozen news alerts go off on my phone with the big news that Rudy Guliani confirmed Trump repaid Cohen, my first thought is this:

A President is a philanderer. So what? Gee that’s never happened before. Is that all you got?

The press is being fed slop like hogs and herded like sheep. Rudy Giuliani has been sitting at home waiting for this chance. The lawyers wrote the Tweets. A new and even more unlikely version of what happened.

Raw meat for commentators. Thank you, Mr. President! Ratings will keep rolling in.

Another thought. Sean Hannity breaks the story proving that Trump reimbursed his lawyer for the porn star hush money, which knocked the embarrassing story about Hannity being a secret client of the same lawyer off the front burner.

Is your head spinning?

Is this coordinated, and orchestrated, or entirely off the cuff?

Don’t touch that dial.

Best,

Bob

Bob, Spike & Joe
The Bob Rivers Show - Podcast

After a hiatus filled with challenges and recovery, Bob Rivers returns to the mic — joined by comedian son, Andrew Rivers. The father-son duo dives into an episode packed with humor, heart, and maybe a few regrets. Bob brings his trademark warmth (and a little help from his emotional support animal) as Andrew shares what might be the 'dumbest thing he's ever done'. He hasn't posted anything about it, hasn't told anyone, not even brother Keith. Mom, Lisa, will learn of after hearing this episode! Bob opens up about his own vote in the election and shares some candid thoughts on his choice & feelings.. [...]

A random email from a Twisted Tunes fan a few years ago has evolved into a personal friendship with one of the most interesting, entertaining, and intelligent people I have ever met. That says a lot, when you consider that for close to 40 years, people have been bringing me interesting, entertaining and intelligent people to talk to every day of the week. That was our job. Michael "Misha" Shengaout (we'll just call him by his artist name Misha), emailed me out of nowhere saying that he was a big fan of mine and wondered if he could meet whoever I was working with to [...]

Bob Rivers and Steve Stockman dig in with a very interesting scientist. Dan Ariely is a Professor of psychology and behavioral economics at Duke University. has been one of our favorite guests and authors since 2008, when he wrote “Predicably Irrational”. His latest book is called: Misbelief: What Makes Rational People Believe Irrational Things? Once you understand this, it can change your life. You might even have more empathy for those who think differently than you do. Just might. Would that be so terrible? I know, sounds like it’s about politics. It sort of is, in that it uses Left and Right examples a lot. [...]
