Still Wagging My Tail: Music, Health & Happiness in Vermont

by | Feb 9, 2025 | 4 comments

Our new House Mate.

In some ways, a lot has happened since our last update. I just finished chemo #2 here in Vermont. And my particular type of adenocarcinoma is growing so slow as to be considered “Stable”, so we’re all feeling great about doing some live “ShackCasting” during Maple Syrup season? Stay tuned. Tree Tap on Tik Tok.

Last week I recorded brand new song with my brother Mike and his wife Chandra, Brothers Richard on blazing electric guitar, and yours truly as producer, keyboard player and cheerleader/coach. We are closing in on 10 tracks. I truly love these songs, and there’s a special kind of joy you get recording your brothers.

And lastly, there’s a very exciting possible development on our “All Good People” movie. It’s the story of Alan White from “John and Yoko” to 50 years of “Yes”. If it comes true, it would make the movie exactly what Alan would have loved.

Oh, yeah. This is supposed to be my health update. I’m still wagging my tail. Lisa and I are on another adventure. The good news is that my cancer is showing no signs of growing any faster. My oncologist is hoping it stays stable, and so are we. Still, I won’t “SugarCoat” it. Chemo sucks in ways that are hard to put into words. So until our 3 month Pet Scans and CT Scans, which are due near the end of March, no news is going to all be good news!

Having come from a good Catholic family – 8 siblings spread out over almost 2 decades, what a blessing to get to spend some real time together. That’s the fun these days!

As my chemo good effects start happening – fingers crossed in the next few weeks, we’ll have some more short podcasts and a little behind the scenes health news for those interested.

As always, your prayers, texts, and little emojis all warm our hearts and remind us of the amazing people in our lives. Thanks so much.

Bob hosts a behind-the-scenes tour of his Vermont maple syrup operation as they prepare for their 10th season of production. Joined by author Steve Stockman and syrup maker Hank Prouty, the video showcases their small-batch, traditional approach to maple syrup production. They walk viewers through their sugar house, explaining their unique process using reverse osmosis and oil-fired evaporators, which helps create their distinctive flavor while maintaining traditional quality. The operation taps about 400 trees across 10 acres of sugar bush, using modern vacuum technology to optimize sap collection while preserving tree health. Aloha from Honolulu! In this special episode, recorded from my birthplace in Hawaii, I catch up with my longtime friend, Spike O’Neill! (Recorded a couple days before Thanksgiving… just now getting this one up after a little tech issue) We take a heartfelt look at life, recovery, and the holiday spirit. We tackle big topics—divisive politics, the media’s grip on perception, and the rise of AI—while reflecting on the importance of kindness, genuine dialogue, and hope for the future. It’s a conversation about connection, resilience, and finding unity in a world that feels more divided than ever. Perfect for the holiday season! 🌴✨ Listening to [...]
