Plus Shipping & Handling

Watched the Evening News today. I usually don’t, because I’m not quite 70 years old yet. There seemed to be more infomercials than ever. There was a cool looking leather clad wallet for only $19.99 (plus $7.99 shipping and handling). But wait, if you order now you get a second one free, plus an additional $7.99 shipping and handling. Then Fran Drescher hawking a lady privates shaver (head to toe!) for $12.99 plus $5.95 shipping and handling… And, you guessed it, a second one free, for only an additional $5.95 shipping and handling. What rock do these people live under? Have they never heard of Amazon? What kind of people still pay for shipping and handling? These ads are the lowest form of advertising. When you’re running the same ads that used to run at 3:00am then end is near. Today I wondered which network will be first to cancel the evening news.

Steve Fossen, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Bassist and founding member of Heart is still touring and playing all over the country, with his soul mate Somar Macek. Heart by Heart sounds so authentic to the original recordings as they were played in the 70’s, you’ll swear you have travelled in time. In this overdue podcast, Bob and Spike hang out with Steve and Somar. We dig into what it was like to be a RockStar playing in from of 400,000 fans, the philosophy behind the bands move to Canada, and how the song Magic Man catapulted the band to fame. Fast forward to [...]

Tom Evans Krause, Jon Kasprick and Charlie Harger join Bob to chat about creation & history of Green River College's radio station, KGRG-FM - celebrating 35 years of their 'Today's Rock' format - and the evolution of broadcasting, podcasting and the increased accessibility & tools available for students and aspiring broadcasters. We pay tribute to one of the greatest mentors in Seattle Radio history: Jim “Kampy” Kampmann. Fun Fact. Nirvana played Lindbloom Student Center at Green River in 1989. Bob and BJ have been best friends and Trekkies for over 20 years. BJ is still bummed that 'The Bob Rivers Show - KZOK' beat 'BJ Shea - KISW' for "Star Trek walk-on roles for the Show Host and a Listener". Because I got to be on Star Trek. And he didn’t. I can't blame him. But had it not gone that way, we wouldn’t be having this insightful Podcast with Amy Ulen. Author, Teacher and so much more - Amy was the bonafide trekky and the lucky listener who joined me for the walk-on roles. Prepare for Warp Speed! Live long and prosper 🖖 [...]
